Here's a thing that totally pisses me off : DVD's with the well-known "Downloading illegal movies of the internet, is theft, and you wouldn't steal a bag/car/whatever"-campaign video. Or even better yet : Finding a little printed inlay that says something about how it's illegal to download movies of the internet and blah blah blah - INSIDE THE FRIGGIN COVER OF MY LEGALLY PURCHASED (and very overpriced) DVD. What the fuck is that about? I bought the friggin movie, so why do I need to read that downloading movies is a sin? How about telling the REAL criminals? And because of the expenses associated with producing such campaigns, my next LEGALLY PURCHASED DVD, will cost 50 cent more...
Sheesh! It's like if the clerk at the counter of your local deli in a very judgmental manner said "shoplifters will get punished", AFTER you've paid for your groceries.
Yes I KNOW it's illegal, that's why I PAY for my entertainment.
They are totally missing the target with these campaigns, because obviously when you download a movie of the internet, you don't get the cover with the annoying little inlay. Furthermore noone is a stranger to all the legal mumbo jumbo, and hence they're just considered nag-screens. And nag-screens gets removed on illegal copies. So who the hell are they trying to reach?
Imagine if you had to listen to 3 minutes of legal crap, that you already friggin know, before you could enjoy the new CD that you LEGALLY PURCHASED! Or if the new book you bought, flipped open on page one and was stuck there for 2 minutes, untill "The Industry" was sure you had enough time to read the legal stuff, before finally allowing you to start reading the book. That'd suck, huh?
I was searching my office garbage bin for one of those inlays that I just threw away the other day, but I can't find it. And somebody would probably sue my ass, if I posted a scan of it here on my blog. Man these people are morons, and they should totally fire their entire legal and marketing departments!

Dental terror (...or how I found WMD's)
It's no secret that I am more terrified of dentists, than of nuclear holocaust. There's no doubt in my mind, that dentists are devil spawn. Dentists can inflict pain, in ways that would make the former SS and Gestapo look like a bunch of gay boy scouts...
- I guess you get the picture by now - I absolutely HATE going to the dentist.
Two days ago, I started getting this infuriating pain in one of my teeth. When it was at it's worst, I had to go lie down, and after one or two hours, I was rather exhausted from the pain.
I knew something was wrong, and I booked an appointment at the dentist. Luckily (and only because I was willing to be checked by another dentist in the clinic) did I get an appointment today at 10.30 am. And thank god. The first message I got was "Yes, we have an opening in 3 weeks" THREE WEEKS?!?! I'LL BE DEAD BY THEN!!
Yesterday just after dinner, the pain intensified - like 5-fold. It was supposed to be a cozy dinner with nice takeout in our garden, but I had to cut it short, and go munch a bunch of pills, and lie down... again.
So at the dentist today, I was nervous as always, when I have the feeling that something is bad.
I got x-rayed, and the image revealed a rather large pus-filled infection, but no holes. Nothing wrong with the tooth, except that infection. But it had spread to the nerve, and so I had to get my second root canal. What a bitch. Especially since this one was definetely NOT self inflicted, from lack of proper dental hygiene. Worst part was, that normally they drill a hole, add some stuff that kills the nerve, and close it up with a temporary filling. I could not get a temporary filling, because the pus kept flowing from the hole. Nice, huh? So I'm even on penincillin over the weekend, to clear the infection. Man I must've been a real ass, to get such bad karma my way.
I'm still numb in the face...
- and don't you just love, how they put you in the chair, leave you in the empty room for a few minutes with all the nasty tools, just to kinda set the mood?

Guldblommehaven architectural visualization
We've (at 3d-empire) recently completed a campaign for a set of yet-to-be-built appartment complexes in Denmark, called "Guldblommehaven" (which translates into something like gold plum garden).
It was my first major project, and I saw it through from building the structures from CAD-drawings, and to the final exterior (and interior) renderings.
I did 3 exterior shots, 2 interior shots and 3 different kitchens. These 3 images are my favourites though.

It's hot, but I'm cold....
... or rather I have a cold. Unfortunately I'm not talking about the cute fella in the picture, but rather his nasty, real-life sibbling. It's sooo hot in the office already (which is up under the roof), and the only way to ventilate, is to open all possible windows and doors, creating a nasty, but soothing draft. Unfortunately the soothing comes with a price, and I've been sniffling for the last week or so.
I'm sure I'll be fine, if YOU would just send me a cold microbe plush toy though :)

Tick-tock, tick-tock...
I just stumbled upon the coolest blog ever. It's just everything the true wrist-watch fetichist could ever ask for.
Speaking of watches...
Saturday morning, I found a cool wrist watch in a nearby Antique Shop. Unfortunately the clerk did not have the price on it, and would have to call the owner monday. I ended up buying it today after work.
The brand is Eloga (swiss), and I have not been able to find any info about this particular watch.
This type of watches, with the rotating "digit discs", are called Jump Hour watches. I don't know why, but I will dig into it.
I also don't know if it is fake or not, but it is pretty cool. And it works. Regular windup, and it stays on time.
If you have any info about this watch, I'd love to hear it.
- I think I'm gonna need a better strap for it though.
Sorry for the poor image quality. The little Ixus Izoom was not too pleased with the task. I'll try to take some better shots, next time I get near an EOS.

Retro-boost
Me and Jan were invited to a video-night at yndlingsnegerens place last night. It was a trip back in time because we were not going to watch the latest Pixar release on big screen with surround sound and in high def. No siree. In fact we travelled back in time to the sweet teen years, using only a few regular VHS tapes, a 14" (or maybe it was even as low as a 12") tv-set, with built in VCR, and a screen curvature like a bowling ball, as propulsion for the retro-booster.
Obviously the tv was also 50hz technology, and after watching Storytelling and Army of Darkness, it felt like I had just rubbed my eyes in salt and pebbles. Fantastic. The very authentic experience could only have been enhanced, if one or two of us were also smokers.
Thanks to our very competent time-travelling guide, for a well-arranged leap in history. Now I'll go rinse my eyes with a DVD on the 32" LCD with Ambilight.... :)

The price is right.... or is it?
I saw a tv commercial today that, as a consumer, pissed me of a bit. I believe it was for the new Toyota Yaris.
Recently the danish government passed a bill, making SUV's and other vehicles in that category, more expensive, and smaller more environmentally friendly cars cheaper.
This is because during the rapid increase of the SUV's popularity over the last 4-5 years, people have started buying them for company use, even if they have no company, or no need for a company car of that magnitude. Cars registered as company cars, are VAT exempt, and VAT in Denmark comes to about 25%, regardless of the item you purchase, be it an apple or a monster truck. There's also a hefty registration fee on motor vehicles, and especially on cars, where you end up paying for two cars or more. But for company cars (registered on yellow license plates here in DK, contrary to the standard white plates) there's also big savings on the registration fee. So you'd end up getting a Porsche Cayenne for an almost reasonable price.
Now obviously if a person drives only him- or herself and noone or nothing else around in a vehicle big enough to hold a small kindergarden and a years supply of nachos, it is at great cost to the environment when said vehicle uses 0.1% of the earths fossil fuels per mile travelled, and spews out an amount of CO2 comparable to the smog covering the Rurh district.
Hence the danish government tought it was time to do something about it. Very commendable.
So they've passed this bill that more or less removes this registration fee savings from those big SUV's.
Toyota Denmark instantly picks up on this new bill, because naturally everyone wants to save a bit whereever possible. Nothing wrong with that, and given the VAT and registration fees on cars here in Denmark, it is indeed nice to save a bit on a car. And for this particular car, it is in fact quite a bit. About 10% or so. But here's the thing : The bill will not take effect until june 15., as far as I understand it, and the little foot note in the commercial says "*estimated price reduction based on the new bill - untill june 15th, the car sells to the old price".
But the woman says "Now you can get the new Toyota Yaris a great deal cheaper"... But you can't NOW. Not until June 15th, and maybe it won't even be as cheap as they advertise it.
I think that's absolutely rotten business conduct. That's selling the skin, before the bear is shot.
Long story short : They're advertising a discount, they don't yet know if they can keep WHEN the new bill is in effect. And they're advertising that you can get the discount NOW, even though you can't (unless you read this after June 15th.).
Shame on you, Toyota! Shame, I tells ya!
